The Procedure
Hydrocolonotherapy is performed only by experienced specialists. The patient is placed in a horizontal position on their back or on the left side (preferably), and a special system of tubes is inserted into the rectum. A cleansing course typically consists of 5-6 procedures. Afterward, the colon is populated with live bacteria.
Since a special tube is inserted into the rectum, there may be discomfort. It’s important to inform the specialist immediately. However, with the correct position (maximum relaxation of the abdomen and legs, deep, smooth breathing), discomfort can be avoided.
Each procedure takes about 45 minutes. It’s advisable to refrain from eating for 1.5-2 hours afterward. Throughout the full course, it’s desirable to adhere to proper nutrition, avoiding fats, carbohydrates (meat, bread, pastries, sweets, carbonated drinks, etc.).
They won’t provide a complete cleansing of the entire intestine. Mostly, they work in the small intestine, not reaching the large intestine where fecal matter accumulates, along with fungi and parasites. Moreover, the body quickly adapts to laxatives and may “forget” how to work independently.
